Irene Watt

Being a singer and harpist has taken me to some amazing locations and a fantastic variety of performance situations. Folk Clubs, Festivals, Concerts, Corporate Functions, Private Parties - there is always plenty to keep me busy. During a recent US Road Show I visited to some wonderful places along the US West Coast playing at house concerts, festival venues, theatres, and a school as well as a couple of radio shows. That was great fun - check out the photo gallery.

I have appeared in several television programmes: Gareth Malone's Sea Songs and Shanties, The Reel History of Britain with Melvin Bragg and The One Show with Carrie Grant. I was on Radio 4's Woman's Hour with Jenny Murray talking about my PhD Research on Lullabies too so it's been a very exciting time with regard to the media.

The recording studio is a creative challenge which I find very exciting. I have recorded two albums Tide of Change and Twa Folk Twyned both of which are available click here. I have also played and am available as a studio session musician for other albums.

I always enjoy playing for weddings and helping to make the day special. Check out the weddings page if you are planning your wedding.

However busy I am there is always time for teaching. If you are interested in learning to play Clarsach or are interested in a Singing or Mixed Instrument Workshop check out the Services Page. I also direct the Harps of Gold Orchestra in Aberdeen and we are always looking for new harpists to join us regardless of age or ability. It's great fun and a wonderful experience.

I hope you enjoy browsing the site and listening to the music clips.
